Possum Boxes — An Alternative Place to Shelter
A possum box provides an alternative shelter option for possums around your property. The Possum Man can supply a custom wooden possum box suitable for Ringtail and Brushtail possums, or install one for you where safe and suitable access is available.
Why Consider a Possum Box?
Possums naturally seek sheltered places to rest and nest. A possum box provides another shelter option around the property without changing the need to properly address any access into the building.

A possum box provides a purpose-built shelter option for possums living around the property.
After possum removal
Some customers choose to provide a possum box after possum removal as an alternative shelter option around the property. It is optional and does not guarantee that the possum will use it.
Possums around the property
A possum box may also be considered where possums regularly visit or live around the property and the customer wants to provide an alternative place for shelter.
Not a proofing substitute
A possum box does not prevent a possum from attempting to enter a building. Identified building access and entry points still need to be addressed separately where required.
A Possum Box Doesn't Replace Removal or Proofing
Possum boxes, possum removal and possum proofing serve different purposes. Understanding the difference helps determine what is appropriate for your property.
Possum box
Provides an optional alternative shelter location. There is no guarantee that a possum will choose to use it.
Possum removal
Addresses a possum currently occupying a building using the appropriate lawful and humane removal approach.
Possum proofing
Addresses the relevant access and entry points that allow possums into a building.
If a possum is in your roof
If a possum is currently inside your roof, installing a possum box by itself does not resolve the building-entry issue.
A possum box is an optional shelter option. Whether a possum chooses to use the box is ultimately up to the animal — it does not replace removal or proofing where a building-entry issue exists.
Supply Only or Installed for You
The Possum Man offers two options — purchase a possum box for your own installation, or have us install it for you where safe and suitable access is available. The standard inspection fee does not apply to either option.
Possum box supply
A custom wooden possum box suitable for Ringtail and Brushtail possums, supplied for customers who wish to arrange their own installation. $149 + GST / box.
Possum box installation
The Possum Man can install the possum box where safe and suitable access is available. $349 + GST / box. Installation remains subject to safe and suitable access.
Non-standard access
Non-standard access or equipment requirements remain subject to the existing Non-Standard Access & Work conditions on the Pricing & Terms page.

For installation bookings, the property and proposed installation area need to provide safe and suitable access.

Confirm the service
We confirm whether you require box supply or installation and any relevant access considerations.

Supply the box
The Possum Man supplies a custom wooden possum box suitable for Ringtail and Brushtail possums.
- Step 5
Install where booked
Where installation has been booked and suitable access is available, the possum box is securely installed in an appropriate location.
- Step 6
Provide an alternative shelter
Once installed, the box provides another shelter option around the property. Whether a possum chooses to use the box is ultimately up to the animal.
